What a great few days at PWX 2026 in Houston! The Virtual Project Manager team was grateful to connect with public works professionals from across the country, share practical project-management solutions, and be part of meaningful conversations about the future of public infrastructure.
From conversations at the booth to our education session and Stormwater BMP inspection demo, PWX was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from the teams doing essential work in their communities every day.
Connecting at Booth #1618
Throughout the event, we welcomed attendees at Booth #1618 and discussed how Virtual Project Manager helps public works teams simplify complex, day-to-day project workflows.
We enjoyed showing visitors how Virtual PM brings important project information and documentation together in one place—including daily logs, change orders, contractor payments, RFIs, budgets, submittals, punch lists, and MS4 compliance activities.
Whether attendees were managing a large Capital Improvement Program or keeping individual project documentation organized, many of the conversations came back to a shared challenge: public works teams are expected to deliver more while managing limited time, staffing, and resources. We were glad to demonstrate how clearer workflows, centralized records, and better visibility can help teams stay coordinated and keep critical work moving forward.
Sharing Ideas for Doing More With Less
A highlight of the event was our education session, “Do More with Less: Leveraging SaaS to Help Small and Mid-Sized Agencies Compete with Big-City Expectations.”
A special thank-you to Dirk Epperson, PE, CCM, MPA, and Samuel Odd, P.E., for taking the stage and sharing their perspectives with attendees. Their session explored how cloud-based software can help smaller and midsized agencies strengthen coordination, improve access to project information, and create more consistent processes—without needing the resources of a large city.
The discussion reflected an important reality across the public works profession: communities of every size deserve organized, accountable, and efficient project delivery. Technology can help give teams the visibility and structure they need to meet those expectations.
Stormwater in the Spotlight
We also had the opportunity to host a Stormwater BMP inspection demo at Booth #2155. It was great to show attendees how Virtual PM can support stormwater compliance by keeping inspections, corrective actions, follow-up tasks, documentation, and assigned responsibilities connected.
Stormwater compliance is a team effort. When internal staff, inspectors, contractors, and consultants all have visibility into what needs to happen next, agencies can reduce uncertainty and keep important compliance activities on track.
A Houston BBQ Highlight
Of course, it would not have been a complete trip to Texas without a little barbecue.
We are especially proud to share that Dirk Epperson earned second place for Pork Ribs in the PWX BBQ Showdown. Competing against Texas barbecue teams is a challenge on its own—but doing it with a borrowed smoker and still taking home a spot on the podium made the accomplishment even more memorable.
Great project conversations, valuable learning opportunities, and an unexpected BBQ podium finish made PWX 2026 one for the books.
